Chiropractors apply adjustments and other supportive measures that uniquely facilitate the body’s awesome self-healing mechanisms. They measurably impact the central nervous system and from that, all else follows.
The chiropractor then focuses on what we call the vitalistic side. They begin with a detailed intake and assessment, including neural spinal and neuro-behavioral testing. They then may offer an attention scoring system.
Once the assessment is complete they offer a plan of care that spans 90 days aimed at achieving specific, pre-identified outcomes. The doctor considers the physical inputs that will enhance hemispheric and cerebellar acuity. Metabolic and dietary assessments, done mostly by questionnaires to limit the need for advanced screening technologies, also figure into the care plan. The need for supplementation can be assessed and the patient advised. In addition, a full home-based program augments the care model. This will include core strength, balance and movement training. Optical and metronome sensory inputs may be added as well.
In all, the doctor will be responsible for the initial evaluation and intake; the reviewing of the algorithms of care and the adjustive care model. The application of the Hallowell strength-based protocol, aimed at restoring hope, ambition, and skills, will be embedded in all aspects of the care.
At 90 days, a neuroplastic evaluation will assess the degree of response and change. A re-assessment using the original testing benchmarks will be performed. As neural retraining is an ongoing endeavor, the patient will be advised and encouraged to continue his or her care both at home and in the office with periodic follow-up appointments.
