Chiropractic Neurology for Motor Vehicle Collisions

After a motor vehicle collision, it is important to follow up on your symptoms — even if they seem minor at first.

motor vehicle collision chiropractic can help

Neck pain, headaches, dizziness, numbness, back pain, balance problems, and concussion-related symptoms may not appear immediately after an accident. In many cases, symptoms develop hours or even days later as inflammation, muscle guarding, and neurologic stress begin to build.

At Apex Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we perform detailed chiropractic neurological evaluations to better understand how the collision affected your spine, nervous system, movement, and overall function. Early evaluation may help identify injuries sooner and reduce the risk of long-term complications.

Whether you were involved in a recent accident or are still dealing with lingering symptoms from a past collision, our goal is to help you understand what is happening and determine the most appropriate next steps for care.

Understanding Motor Vehicle Collision Injuries

Motor vehicle collisions can place significant stress on the body — even at lower speeds. The most common injuries involve sprains and strains affecting the muscles, ligaments, and joints of the spine, but accidents may also contribute to more complex conditions involving the nervous system.

Some patients experience

  • Whiplash-associated injuries
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Concussion-related symptoms
  • Disc injuries or herniations
  • Nerve irritation or entrapment
  • Dizziness or balance problems
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Shoulder, hip, or extremity pain
  • Difficulty concentrating or brain fog

A thorough examination helps us better understand the severity and functional impact of an injury.

Depending on your symptoms, evaluation may include:

  • Range of motion testing
  • Orthopedic testing
  • Neurological examination
  • Balance and coordination assessment
  • Functional movement evaluation
  • Referral for imaging or advanced testing when indicated
Just as important as the initial evaluation is ongoing re-examination. Monitoring progress over time helps determine how your body is responding to care and whether your treatment plan should be adjusted.

Why Symptoms Can Persist After an Accident

One of the most common mistakes people make after an accident is assuming the pain will simply go away on its own.

While some injuries improve naturally, others may continue to affect movement, posture, balance, muscle function, and nervous system activity long after the collision. As the body compensates for injured areas, those compensation patterns can become increasingly difficult to reverse.

For example, if an injury causes you to limp, guard your neck, avoid turning your head fully, or change how you sit or sleep, those altered movement patterns may place additional stress on other areas of the body over time.

The longer symptoms persist, the more complex they can become.

That is why early evaluation and appropriate follow-up care matter. Identifying problems sooner may help reduce the likelihood of chronic pain, long-term mobility limitations, and ongoing neurologic dysfunction.

How Chiropractic Neurological Care May Help

At Apex, care begins with understanding the full picture of your injury.

Following a detailed neurological and musculoskeletal evaluation, we create an individualized treatment plan based on your symptoms, examination findings, functional limitations, and goals.

Our approach may help support recovery by:

Improving mobility and joint function

Reducing muscle tension and guarding

Addressing balance and coordination deficits

Supporting recovery from concussion-related symptoms

Improving movement patterns

Reducing dizziness or visual disturbances

Addressing numbness, tingling, or nerve-related symptoms

Helping patients gradually return to normal activity

More complex injuries involving dizziness, balance, visual disturbances, or neurologic symptoms often require a more specialized approach than traditional chiropractic care alone. Chiropractic neurology focuses on understanding how the brain, nervous system, and body communicate following injury.

Starting care sooner rather than later may improve the body’s ability to recover and adapt appropriately after trauma.

My first visit with Dr Moje has already brought noticeable improvement with relief. I would’ve never expected to be breathing more fully but I noticed that as well. Who knew he could work on my vagus nerve?! I woke up the next day feeling so much calmer. His neurological approach is remarkably different from other Chiropractors. I’m so glad I found this practice!

As a mother of a child in pain, I can't express how wonderful Dr. Jahnke and Dr. Moje are. My daughter has a connective tissue disease that left her in pain daily. She grew up using a wheelchair and FAO's to assist her in daily life. As soon as I found out that Dr. Jahnke knew what Ehler's Danlos was, I made the appointment. My daughter went for several visits but she said after the first few she could feel a huge difference. A month ago, she hiked up a 1.4 mile hike at a 60 degree incline. She would never have made it or even been able to try without Apex Chiropractic's assistance. I highly recommend them especially if you have EDS. There is no reason to suffer in silence and in pain when Apex is around.

Dr Moje has been a life saver for me. Earlier in the year I fell and suffered a concussion. I had been to several doctors and therapist with little improvement. After seeing Dr Moje for a couple of months, I am feeling much better! He has been kind, patient and knowledgeable and given me very helpful referrals as well. His care is holistic and has put me on a path to physical and emotional healing. I highly recommend seeing Dr Moje to start your healing journey!
